This blog began with our journey to China when we received our adopted daughter and third child, Alexandra. The lady bug is the common symbol, or mascott for adopted Chinese daughters. The blog has since evolved into a journal of our trials, triumphs, joys and complete loss of sanity (that is often restored by copious amounts of chocolate or beer- taken only on an as needed basis, of course), as we embrace daily life with four beautiful little children.

Star Wars Art

As you may have guessed, the boys have been on a Star Wars kick lately. Shortly after watching Star Wars Episode I, Joe drew this picture of Darth Maule and Obi-Wan in a light saber fight. Darth Maule is the one with the belly button.

We recently watched Episode 2. The boys seemed to be a little more intimidated by this one- at times the film is quite intense. They scampered back and forth from their room, hid behind the couch, and covered their eyes and ears. Christina managed to lighten the mood a bit though, when part way through the movie she stole the remote and turned it off. "Snookie!", cried the kids. Poor Christina was a bit alarmed at their reaction and she threw herself onto the floor in a pathetic heap, giving way to one of her typical silent tantrums. (She tantrums, but doesn't make any noise. I've never seen anything like it from another kid (or adult for that matter), and it's quite funny).

Allie has also become quite the Star Wars fan. She still walks around calling herself Princess Leah (she already saw Episode 4), and carries her brothers' toy drill from their work bench saying, "This is my gun!" Just lovely. She has been most impressed however, by the fact that in Star Wars, everyone is either a "good guy" or a "bad guy". Now whenever she sees someone new she asks, "Is he a good guy?" For example, the referee in the football game on T.V. Or my personal favorite: when we went to go meet my boss for my summer-time job at Tabor the other day. "Mom, is he a good guy?"
