This blog began with our journey to China when we received our adopted daughter and third child, Alexandra. The lady bug is the common symbol, or mascott for adopted Chinese daughters. The blog has since evolved into a journal of our trials, triumphs, joys and complete loss of sanity (that is often restored by copious amounts of chocolate or beer- taken only on an as needed basis, of course), as we embrace daily life with four beautiful little children.

Homework follies

The kids have been in school for two full weeks now and already we've had to write a note like this to a teacher:

Dear Mrs. _________,

Please pardon the appearance of our son Joe's homework.  Our dog Anabel (who is otherwise a very well behaved dog) has a habit of tearing up paper when the family leaves home and she feels left behind.  Unfortunately, she got this one.  Joe really did do his homework.

No really, the dog ate it.  We're not kidding.
