This blog began with our journey to China when we received our adopted daughter and third child, Alexandra. The lady bug is the common symbol, or mascott for adopted Chinese daughters. The blog has since evolved into a journal of our trials, triumphs, joys and complete loss of sanity (that is often restored by copious amounts of chocolate or beer- taken only on an as needed basis, of course), as we embrace daily life with four beautiful little children.

A Good Recipe

How to take three kids under age four to the doctor for a flu shot all at once:

Ingredients: honesty, hugs, doughnuts, chocolate

1. Tell the three-year-olds briefly what's going to happen without making a big deal out of it.

2. Line them up on the table.

3. Let the nurse do her thing.

4. Provide three hugs (one after each injection).

5. Pass out three doughnuts after they're in the car.

6. Indulge in chocolate to relieve maternal stress and anxiety.
