The boys enjoyed their first camping experience this weekend. (Alexandra enjoyed being spoiled for the weekend by Grandma). We found a nearby campground and kept the experience very simple. The boys were impressed with sleeping outside in a tent and enjoyed the typical stuff: camp fire, roasting marshmallows and hot dogs, using a lantern, etc. It was fun to see them so excited. The adults had somewhat less of a good time when some nearby college aged campers decided to party til after 2:00 a.m. Not a good night of sleep for either of us (the boys slept through it), but definitely not the worst night's sleep we've had (after 3 babies).
The next day we took them for a hike up Pack Monadnock- a small mountain(more like a hill)in southeastern New Hampshire. Joe couldn't wait to get started. He was so motivated he climbed and jumped off every rock he saw towards the beginning of the hike, and managed to wear himself out for the rest of it. Dad got to carry him part way. Aaron on the other hand, was less than thrilled to climb a mountain, but once he got started, he paced himself well and made it to the top without a complaint. Tortoise and the Hare. Nonetheless it was a fun and memorable day.
(Joe is on the left in the first two pictures and Aaron is on the left in the third picture- enjoy)!
