This blog began with our journey to China when we received our adopted daughter and third child, Alexandra. The lady bug is the common symbol, or mascott for adopted Chinese daughters. The blog has since evolved into a journal of our trials, triumphs, joys and complete loss of sanity (that is often restored by copious amounts of chocolate or beer- taken only on an as needed basis, of course), as we embrace daily life with four beautiful little children.

Halloween!

It was an interesting Halloween. The kids split up this year. Aaron, dressed as "Harry" went with his friend Grace, who was "Hermione". Joe went with another red-eyed phantom friend. The girls went out with their next door neighbor. And I stayed home for the first time this year and answered the door. It was the first year there was no crying, problems, tantrums, or even complaints! And it was the first year with kids I didn't feel stressed out on Halloween. Busy, but not stressed. It was nice to see happy faces return home.

The night was cold and the snow from the weekend's pre-winter storm was mostly melted. Neighborhood kids had built jack-o-lantern headed snow men and snow-witches on their front lawns. Most of the trees that had been damaged by the storm had been cleared. And the leaves remained on the trees because of the late summer we had. Though our town was spared, many of the surrounding towns had to cancel trick-or-treating because so many of the homes were still without power. Those poor kids!
