This blog began with our journey to China when we received our adopted daughter and third child, Alexandra. The lady bug is the common symbol, or mascott for adopted Chinese daughters. The blog has since evolved into a journal of our trials, triumphs, joys and complete loss of sanity (that is often restored by copious amounts of chocolate or beer- taken only on an as needed basis, of course), as we embrace daily life with four beautiful little children.

Who's the Boss?

The other day the girls were getting dressed and, as usual, they wanted to wear dresses. "No", their dad said, "Not today, it's way too cold out." After much whining and pleading it became, "OK, you can wear a dress, but you have to wear warm pants underneath them." Christina immediately scrapped that idea and began pulling her tights out of her drawer. John began to dig through the girls dresser, only to find that there were no suitable pants for them to wear under their dresses. So he gave up.

"OK fine, you can wear your dresses."

Allie pondered this a moment. "Why did you let us boss you around Dad?", she said, after realizing that the girls got their way. "Mom doesn't let us be the boss."

"That's true", John said, "Mom is the boss."

Allie: "Is she the boss of you too?"

"Do you think she is?", he asked.

"Yeah", Allie replied. "And when I grow up, I want to be the MOM!"

LOL! So true!

Makes me think of the year that my dad was tasked with dressing my sister for Easter. We had matching dresses and no one realized there was a problem until she took off her coat in church...her dress was on backwards! There was no tag (my sister was very averse to anything "scratchy") so he used the buttons for guidance and put them in the front. LOL
