This blog began with our journey to China when we received our adopted daughter and third child, Alexandra. The lady bug is the common symbol, or mascott for adopted Chinese daughters. The blog has since evolved into a journal of our trials, triumphs, joys and complete loss of sanity (that is often restored by copious amounts of chocolate or beer- taken only on an as needed basis, of course), as we embrace daily life with four beautiful little children.

Congratulations Brian and Betsy!

We have a new sister! Brian and Betsy were married on Saturday May 17th. The wedding was beautiful and bride and groom are very happy. As far as I could tell, everything went according to plan with no major mishaps- as is always a concern for the bride on her special day. As far as the little mishaps, well, there were only a couple. Poor Allie, a precious flower girl that day made it all the way down the aisle before she did a major face plant. She was such a trooper though- dusted herself off and kept going straight to her Auntie Mary who scooped her up. Joe (who was one of the ring bearers- can you guess who the other one was?) decided about a quarter of the way down the aisle to stop and started to take a seat in one of the pews, before his mother shooed him forward. And Christina decided there just wasn't enough music and began to sing, rather loudly a couple times, during the ceremony. And then there was my poor hubby who was sick all day and barely made it through the evening.

For us, it was an exhausting weekend. None of it matters though. Two lovely people have united their souls through the beautiful sacrament of holy matrimony. Both of their faces were filled with joy at the sight of each other. Laughter and love filled the atmosphere that day. What else matters?

My mother has twin brothers who are 9 years younger. She was 18 when she got married (my Dad was in the service and headed for Germany), and the boys were the Ring Berers. After the wedding they couldn't find the boys for the pictures. Turns out they were up in the balcony crying cause they didn't want her to leave! They thought she was leaving them forever THAT day. They married in March, my Dad went to Germany a few weeks later, but my Mom didn't go till June after HS graduation.

She said those boys were stinkers when they were little, but now, they are wonderful Christian men w/ wonderful families.
