This blog began with our journey to China when we received our adopted daughter and third child, Alexandra. The lady bug is the common symbol, or mascott for adopted Chinese daughters. The blog has since evolved into a journal of our trials, triumphs, joys and complete loss of sanity (that is often restored by copious amounts of chocolate or beer- taken only on an as needed basis, of course), as we embrace daily life with four beautiful little children.

Pretty as a Picture


My almost four-year olds have been learning about hygiene and self care lately. One day, Joe decided to get creative with a hair combing experiment. His sister was the guinea pig. Remarkably, Allie sat there patiently and let him do his thing. She was thrilled to have her big brother make her hair "pretty". I was impressed, her hair actually looked good enough for church! Fortunately I stepped in before Joe got into the hair gel.
