We are still waiting on our travel approval, but we found out that we will be traveling to Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province, where we will register Alexandra's adoption. We are traveling with a group of 8 other couples, also waiting for their daughters. The babies will be bused from the social welfare institute in Nanfeng- about a six hour ride and will be brought to us at our hotel very shortly after we arrive in China. We will remain in Nanchang for about 5 days to complete the adoption, and then we will fly to Guangzhou to complete the official paperwork necessary at the U.S. Consulate for bringing her into the United States. We will be in Guangzhou for about 5 more days.
The following is a link to our daughter's affiliated orphanage (even though she's in foster care) in Nanfeng, her birth town. Here you can see some pictures of the orphanage and some of the other children adopted from there. Notice that all of the kids have the surname Lu, as does Alexandra (Lu Weihong, her Chinese name). Lu is the surname of the orphanage director. If we are lucky, we will be offered a chance to visit Nanfeng while we are in Jiangxi.
